    Good practice case study: Treatment support for people experiencing homelessness
    This good practice case study looks at the work of homelessness charity Harbour Housing, based in Cornwall. Since last year, Harbour Housing has had a dedicated bed to support people experiencing homelessness who are also infected with hepatitis C. They collaborated with NHS England and Addaction to develop an exclusive care pathway and to make treatment as easy and accessible as possible. So far, they have got seven people successfully treated hepatitis C.

  • EMCDDA on models of care for hepatitis C in drugs services
    The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction published 'Hepatitis C: new models of care for drugs services' in July 2019. This aims to highlight the importance of targeting people who inject drugs as a key population for the elimination of hepatitis C in Europe and to show innovative practice in the form of 11 case studies (three of which are from England). The report provides key insights into the results, impact, sustainability and transferability of each practice to guide the implementation of these new models of care in other countries and settings.

  • WHO policy brief on access to testing and treatment for people who inject drugs and people in prisons
    The World Health Organisation (WHO) published this policy brief in April 2019 to set out the current landscape of country hepatitis policies for harm reduction and hepatitis C testing and treatment for people who inject drugs and people in prisons. It aims to capture how governments are translating the WHO Global health sector strategy on viral hepatitis 2016-2021, which the UK Government has signed up to, in national plans. It also provides a summary of the enablers and barriers to hepatitis C testing and treatment in these populations.

  • Hepatitis C in England 2019 report
    Public Health England's annual report on the UK’s progress towards eliminating hepatitis C sets out that although a lot has been achieved towards the World Health Organisation’s target of eliminating hepatitis C as a major public health threat by 2030, there is still much to do. In particular, the report calls for a 'radical change' in the health service's approach to hepatitis C among people who inject drugs.

  • World Hepatitis Day 2018: Global Summary Report
    This report, produced by the World Hepatitis Alliance, provides a comprehensive summary of international activity for World Hepatitis Day 2018. 144 countries, 93 governments and 53 WHO Country Offices took part across the six regions. Over 1,600 events were organised, 318,914 people attended events in their local community or country, and millions were reached online.
